In February 1997, influenced by bots, I played 13/8 against Malcolm Davis. (That's Match 2 of the book.) A Snowie 3.2 3-ply full money rollout, with 3-ply live cube, full search space, had 13/8 ahead of 13/9 6/5 by .024 but with 95% confidence intervals of .018 and .019 for the respective plays. That doesn't sound quite like 95% confidence on the .024 difference.

An 11-ply truncated money rollout favored 13/8 by .041 with 95% confidence intervals of .006 apiece.

The game went: Davis 51: 8 23; mws 11: 5(2) 7(2); Davis 65: 7 8; mws Double to 2; Davis Pass.

In the book I said I thought 13/9 6/5 was probably best. Anybody got SW4 or GNU rollouts for the position?
