Yes, obviously, turning VR on won't prevent you from getting actual statistics. That wasn't my point.
My point was that I can see no principled objection to introducing a new feature as I've suggested. According to my proposal, no capabilities will be eliminated. You can eat your cake and have it too. If you don't want actual statistics, just do everything as you have been doing and everything will run as normal. Same speed, same answers.
Those like me who want actual statistics will have to do something to get them, of course. They'll need to do a longer rollout (though since VR doesn't affect actual statistics, they can speed things up by turning VR off). But this extra investment in time will only need to be made by people who are willing to make it, for the sake of getting reliable actual statistics. Nothing is being forced on old-fashioned users who like the traditional statistics.
