In Response To: Refute this argument, please (I know someone will!) (Phil Simborg)

I am smarter now than I was in 2006, thanks to Tobias, and to several others on this forum who have helped educate me. One of the biggest improvements in my approach to the game is that I now consider the odds more accurately, and then try to bend the odds in my favor. I do not consider luck because I do not believe I can bend luck (I do not wear a rabbit's foot, believe in astrology, keep my fingers crossed, or wear lucky underwear).

Ok, THAT I agree with completely. I could have written it myself. As far as I know, Phil, in your many articles you've consistently and correctly advised players to forget about luck, because there's nothing to be done about it, and every brain cell wasted thinking about luck is a brain cell that could have been used for learning and for finding the right play over the board. Let's leave it at that.
