I'm unsure I have ever seen people (except Vernon Ball maybe) advocating studying luck as a means to improve ones game (Heck even an idiot like me knows better). Luck is Luck. It exists, but worrying about luck will get you nowhere in improving one's own skill. In the end just because one shouldn't care about "Luck in backgammon as a way to improve one's chance to win" does not equate to "There is no luck in backgammon" IMHO.

And this is my last statement on the matter.
