I'd go for B/17* because that seems to induce less return hits and exchanges of hits at a moment when the bold vs safe criteria suggest caution. It is a tough decision because in abstract I'd rather have my checkers on the 18 and 23 then on the 24 and 17, and B/18* destroys the more valuable slot, but I'd go with tactics over the long-term features of the position here.
