Number 1

Blue has a 29 pip lead, but his position is kind of awkward and he has no threats to speak of. He looks likely to leave some blots along the way, and White’s forward position is quite strong. I can’t imagine anyone dropping this. I say: No Double/Take.

Number 2

Blue is a little behind in the race but has White on the bar against the best five-point board. But Blue is behind a four-prime with blots strewn everywhere and five or six rolls to get everybody home. The takepoint on the recube is calculated: Double-Pass: 37% DTW: 76% DTL: 24% Risk=13%, swing = 52%. TP=25%. I think this is a double due to Woolsey’s Law and because it looks really scary. I think it’s a take because Blue has a lot of work to do and White doesn’t lose as many gammons as it might appear (I’m guessing 15%). If White can enter in the next turn or two he is rght back in the game: I say Double-Take.

Number 3

Blue on roll, cube action? Blue is 18 pips ahead, has a nice three-point home table, has put one of White’s checkers in the air but has no other immediate threats to speak of. White’s position is pretty crappy—no forward development, no anchor advaced beyong the 23-pt, a checker in the air. Yet the game has a long way to go. I can’t see many people dropping this. DP: 30% DTW: 50% DTL: 24% Risk/swing=6/26. White easily has this. His recube vig is strong too. Blue doesn’t appear to have many market losers: making the 4-point or maybe a sequence where he brings down builders and White fans. I think this might be close, but I’m going to say: No redouble/Take.
