Number 1
Blue is 34 pips ahead, a lead that is close to insurmountable for racing purposes. Take point is 19% since a double is for the match. This mean that white is going to have to win a shade over 7 out of 36 games in order to take. Blue blots immediately with 61, 65, 52 and 66. White hits around a third of these shots, so that’s a smidgen over 2 wins for blue on the next exchange. If there are two or more such parlays remaining in the game, White has a take. Blue’s position is kind of awkward, so I would guess that Blue has a take. I’m not sure about this. Does White have a double? I think so. I think some players will drop this. It may be a drop now. White loses his market with most clearing numbers, so he should double now. Verdict: Double/take.
Number 2
I never slot with 41 so this never comes up for me. I guess Blue has 3 reasonable alternatives: make the advanced anchor on the 21 point; enter and hit Bar/22, 9/5*, or enter-and-cover with Bar/22, 13/9. There are actually a couple of recent articles on GammonVillage about this kind of decision, but I had trouble understanding them.
I don’t like the hitting play because I think it the risk of getting a fourth man sent back does not justify the potential gain. I play Bar/22, 13/9, making an offensive point because I don’t think I need to play defense yet against White’s virgin board. I could pretty easily be talked into making the anchor, though. Verdict: Bar/22, 13/9.
Number 3
I probably need more coffee before I address problems like this. I am befuddled. I think Blue can reject plays that make the anchor since no reasonable six remains. Blue would like to make the barpoint, hemming in White’s straggler. But this play abandons the midpoint and separates Blue’s army. Blue would also like to get his back checkers moving. I guess I play 23/15.
