I play 6/1* here too. It's tricky because we've escaped all our checkers already and are well ahead in the race, so risking another checker sent back is something we have to think twice about, even with White's relatively weak forward position.

What sways me is that if we just swing our back checker around safely, White will probably get a decent bar-point holding game. Then our winning chances will probably be in the 70–75% range with fairly low gammon chances. While that's not bad, it's not good enough to stop me from trying for more with 6/1*.
