Hello,

Difficult question as I have never played tennis.

Learning to play pool either handed was fairly easy. Learning the full range of kicking techniques for a rugby ball off either foot was more difficult but still possible. The martial artists I know are fluent off either side. I am told by a couple of friends who had badly broken arms that it is possible to learn to write left handed in well under 6 months.

I could never successfully bat left handed at cricket but that requires both left and right hands to work together.

If the player is already playing significantly above 4.5 and was willing to put in the time, I see no reason why he could not get above 4.5 off either hand. Possibly best initially to avoid two handed shots as I guess these will be the most difficult (not just getting your left hand side to do something but also reprogramming your right hand side).
