Points of equity are not the same things as percentages. At DMP, for instance, your game winning chances (GWC) range from 0% to 100%. The equity scale for the same game ranges from -1.0 to +1.0. A loss of 0.1 points of equity is not a 10% reduction of your GWC. It is only a 5% loss of GWC. When gammons and backgammons are in the mix, or the cube is live, the equity scale is even broader, so 0.10 points can be less than 5%.

This is a mistake I often make myself. I'm in the process of training myself to say, "0.10 points of equity," rather than, "10%."
