I like hitting on the bar point.

  • Keep the back men connected.
  • Slot the two best anchors; Blue is likely to make one of them.
  • Take away the point White wants in his prime.
  • Maximize return shots in case Blue is hit.
  • Hitting on the bar point gains more in the race.

The downside is that it gives White a good 6 to play from the bar, and gives him the most return shots as well.
