Should Blue Double?

  • Blue leads by 18 pips.
  • Blue can hit outside with 13 numbers (any 5, plus 32).
  • When Blue does not hit outside, he might attack inside with 4s and, perhaps, 6s.
  • Any roll of doublets plays well.

Does this make a double? Let's check the take first. It doesn't look like a problem. White should be taking any double we offer.

What about market losers? A hit and a dance will certainly complicate White's take decision. When White can enter immediately, however, he will likely have a take.

I'm inclined to wait, but let's face it. As poor as my checker play is, my doubling is even worse!

My vote: No double
