This is why you should practice playing Super Nackgammon Shuffle then anything that arises even in a 'weird' game of regular backgammon seems boring.

In the first position I am hitting two even though you posted it. That stack on the 8pt is too much to ignore at this point in the game.

As for the second problem, I would have strongly considered doubling before this roll. Ignoring that the five is 'forced' playing 22/17 and after that we have 3 remaining logical threes. Of the outfield scoots I like the connectivity of continuing to the 14pt over 16/13 so I'm down to that play versus making the 17pt. It seems that's a pretty strong outfield presence and gets us moving in the right direction since we're 3 zillion pips up in the race and have nothing to fear with our opponent on the bar. I start freeing myself from my opponent's grasp with the anchoring play of 17(2).
