Nackgammon Shuffle - Starting Positions

Thanks. I gave a fair amount of thought to rolling 2 at a time, but wrote it up as sequence of one-die rolls for a few reasons:
- If doublets are rolled, you could reasonably reroll one or both dice. It doesn't really matter, so this is an opportunity for two people to disagree on how it should be done. I'd prefer not to defend one approach over the other, so there was a natural appeal to the sequential method.
- For the outside points, the one die procedure eliminates having to decide, agree on, and remember which color represents which outer board. Not a big upside, but the goal was to minimize the potential for disputes. My opinion is that this slightly outweighs the efficiency advantages of two-dice rolling.
- At the table I envisioned one player rolling for position and the other player setting up the checkers. I like the 1-roll:1-stack balance.
That said, I wouldn't argue with someone advocating a 2-dice method. The main thing is for both players to agree on the procedure before the first roll. _________________________________________________
Which NG900 positions cannot occur in what you count as NG450?
In NG900, you can have a stack on the 5 (or 4) point with no opposing anchors on the higher homeboard points. These are not possible for NG450, since you put the homeboard stack on the highest available point.
