Hi,

b/20 8/5 has hits with 1,4 and 8 = 20 + (53,62) = 24/36 but a third is returned making 16/36 effectively.

after b/17 white hits with 1 and 5 = 20 + (32) = 22/36 1/6th is returned making 18/36 effectively

so its close.

After a hit with a 1 white still needs to cover with a 1, 4 or 8, so its possible white will not cover next turn.

The checker on the 5 is useful if white wants to leave his anchor, and he might, since he is far ahead in the race.

Then we have 4/36 extra loose hits and 6/36 extra (semi) safe hits on the abandoned 4 blot.
