In Response To: Daily Quiz 10/8 (Daily Quiz)

(1) The 4-prime looks very strong most of the time, but not when White points to put 3 behind his own broken prime. I'd make the bar point anchor.

(2) I should do some ME calculation leading 5-away 11-away, but offhand the take looks too easy and the double marginal at best, so I'd wait.

(3) We lead Crawford 8-away and are up big in the race. We can play completely safe 16/10 13/8, or hit and pay off to 4-4 with 16/11* 13/7, or hit and pay off to 4-4 with fewer blots with 16/11*/5. Maybe bringing it home after the safe play is easier than it seems to me, but I'd play 11* 7.
