I would have played 7/1 6/1, making a 5 point board. Then next roll we can decide what to give up, taking into account white's roll. I think Mick is right though that you can and should run from the 20 and let your board work for you against the white awkwardness.
Upcoming cube action may also be important to consider. In some cases it should go no double, take, in other double, take or even double pass. 20/14 20/15 might be an idea for example if you were sure to get cubed, but if not, too many gammons.
