Nack, I think I have answered my own question. In your post here, you state, "D (Down)... This letter describes a move in which both halves (or all four portions) are played to or within the outer board."
This is a modest extension of the definition for D given in the original Nactation Guide. It says, "D stands for Down. It refers to playing from the midpoint to the outer board, usually with two checkers."
