I think you have to hit and go for win. White has blot in his board so there is some chances for rehit despite all those spares and blots which make most hitting numbers also coverers. Race so close and if you leave white and don't hit he can escape and win the race with some big numbers.

I like Mary quote: "There is no race which can't be lost." Or something similar :-)
