40 player draw sheet solution (long)

I played 64 pts of BG on Saturday and finished at 2:16 am...here's the solution when using a 40 player draw sheet.
When anyone wonders why I really stress that Championship events should be clock mandatory (like in LA and Chiva's events !!) they can consider what can happen on a short ABT weekend. This is also why I stress that traditional triple elim events like this must have a progressive last chance (as thankfully and due to Linda's thoughtfulness this event has had for the past few years).
Anyhow, with 37 players a 40 player draw sheet for progressive conso and LC was used. Butch Meese, as usual has done an excellent job with this draw sheet. The plan with only 40 players to pay 1st/2nd main and conso and 1st LC. This is certainly reasonable except for one problem which affected me greatly!
I got one of the anti-byes so I had to play an extra match being at the bottom of the 40 player drawsheet. I won my first 4 matches and then had to play Joe Sly who'd won his first three matches. Amazingly after losing that tough match just after 11 pm I was told that I had to play a conso match as well !! Clearly something had to be wrong with the drawsheet or scheduling if someone who's played FIVE 11 pt matches in a day (starting a bit after noon) has to play ANOTHER match (9 pt conso)! I discussed this with Linda and became rather convinced that I had to play another match or the LC would be held up due to the feedin of the loser of my next match. I was given the option to play really early Sun morning but declined when guaranteed that I'd not have to start prior to 11:30 Sun win or lose. Anyhow, due to slow play of another player (not Rory) I had to wait until about 1 am to start that match vs Rory which finished mercifully at 2:16 am.
In a normal 32 player event of this sort, 4 wins means that you cash, finishing 2nd. In a normal 64 player event, 4 wins means that you cash, finishing 3rd/4th and that you are out of the event. So...doesn't it make sense for someone who wins his first 4 matches using a 40 player draw sheet to also cash and be out of the event? OF COURSE IT DOES !!
So here's how it should go... when using this 40 player draw sheet. (I'm not sure how a 48 player sheet works, but if it only is set to pay 5 places it will be the same as this). The player who didn't get the anti-bye and loses his semi-final match should be given 3rd place !! This only dilutes the prize/ABT pt payouts slightly since there are now 11 shares rather than 10. This reduces the bad luck of getting an anti-bye and while some may think it unfair to not pay the losing semi-finalist who got a bye, that player only won his first 3 matches and can feed into conso and LC without causing nearly as much of a delay since his feed in is 1 match sooner (about 2 hours). I discussed and considered paying both losing SF's making it 12 shares, but that seems too diluting.
Anyhow, in the future, please redo this 40 players (and if needed 48 player) drawsheet to give the losing anti-bye SF player 3rd place !! This speeds up the event greatly and prevents some poor sap from playing 64 pts of matches in one day and missing lots of sleep.
Oh..what if I'd won vs Joe? He'd been given 3rd place even though he didn't get an anti-bye since he lost the SF match with the anti-bye player in it. In a bracket of 48 both Joe and I would have had anti-byes so that would be more fair.
Thank god for progressive LC and that 11:30 Sunday start time or with the archaic start the LC on Sunday method I'd have had to have played at 10 am or 10:30 after finishing at 2:16 am.
Great tourney, Linda, and I hope you'll consider my suggestion for 40 or 48 player draws so that no one has to again evenr play 64 pts of matches in one day.
I do note that in Swiss, once in a while(usually just 5 matches) six 9 pt matches are played but they all run on schedule and 54 pts of BG ending at midnight at the latest isn't nearly as bad as 64 pts of BG ending at 2:16 am.
