Cubes and gammons near the end of the match. Bill Robertie, Inside Backgammon January-February, 1995. Mochys Meribel table says: "(2a-5a)Best way for 2away is win gammon with center cube. This is less risk and perfectly effective. ... 2a-4a Similiar with 2away-5away but more extreme score. 4away can double very very early if he has som gammon threat."

We will never double in gammonish positions. The trailer will be cube happy there. The race take points are deep for both sides. So making the golden point adresses very clear plan B and cuts down gammons. 2 down from the midpoint developes a stack and steers into a priming game. No hit.
