I'm reposting this rollout since it disappeared during this site's downtime.
8/2* wins a lot more gammons and 18/13 5/4 wins a lot more games. I think it's quite difficult to estimate the tradeoff. The rollout puts 18/13 5/4 on top. This position actually arose at a score where Blue's gammon value was elevated enough to make 8/2* roll out best. I played 18/13 5/4 OTB and my PR suffered accordingly.
