Here is how the betting went:

Folded to Phil and pot is 3,800.

Phil pots it meaning he raises to 6,600

Tony G announces all in, which he isn't nor is Phil, he can only repot making it 21,600. At this point the pot is roughly 30k so Phil has to call the 15k and his other 9k will go into the pot, either pre or post flop, doesn't matter, he'll be totally committed. In essence, Phil is putting in ~24k and the final pot will be ~63k. (or he could fold now and still have that in front of him.

Where I really think you're off is "Tony G is likely to make this move with any pair, sometimes with Ax (just ask Ralph Perry), and sometimes on complete air. "

I know that's the A2 v. JK hand and that has nothing to do with what's going on here whatsoever. Completely different circumstances with totally different opposition involved. If you think that Tony G would make that move with these chip stacks against Hellmuth on a weak ace or air you're drunk.
