13/9, 8/5, attempting some development on our side. Sure we don't want to be hit, but he can't both hit and make another point unless he rolls 44 or 22. So if we are hit this turn, chances are we're only going to have to get in on a two point board. I'd rather take a risk now, rather than later for the same gain if it works, since his board is almost certain to be bigger and badder later!

This play is the functional equivalent of a Splot, so it's good to at least consider non-Splot alternatives. a) 13/6--a bit too passive this early IMHO, and b) I would like two down from the midpoint if that second spare on our 8 point were back on the mid. Then that play wouldn't strip the mid, but my play would strip our 8 point. But that ain't how it is so that ain't how I voted >>
