Our app is sold through and requires the official Android Market, so it won't be able to run on the Kindle Fire unless you root the device to add the official Android Market.

Amazon is running a modified version of the Android OS on the Kindle Fire which doesn't include the official Android Market. They want users to buy apps through their own Amazon Appstore, which is built-in on the Kindle Fire.

The Amazon Appstore is a separate Android market that developers need to sign up for. For now, we're not selling on Amazon for a few reasons. Most people buy apps through the official Android Market, but very few do so through Amazon. Although that could change with the Kindle Fire. Also, developer terms are not favorable on Amazon. Android app prices in general are already very low, and the Amazon contract lets them discount your app even further to any price they choose at any time without your approval.
