I wasn't implying I don't bring math into the equation sometimes ... but trust me, people call way too much and over emphasize "pot odds to call". If it looks like a piece of shit & it smells like a piece of shit you don't always have to taste it to be sure it's a piece of shit... a bet saved is a bet won.

I know some people (a lot of people) who play outside their bankroll too. Just one more reason I can survive playing poker and others can't. They're playing poker and they think poker is about money. Poker is about making the right decisions just like any other game. You make solid decisions based on what you can deduce from the action and the 'money' will take care of itself.

Btw, before I forget, I definitely 3 bet from the BB if I have 99 there. Simply calling can be brutal.

I certainly don't raise every button. I play solid starting hands, decent starting hands + position, or anything when I have position + know if I hit I'll get paid huge.

In our example if he bets the river I fold. Nobody will checkraise, bet the turn, and then bet the river w/out a hand that beats mine. (I know you think they will, that it can happen, but once I play the hand like I have an ace, they will not) I should quantify that statement by saying "not at these stakes". If someone bet this riverin a $5/$10 game I may call them down if I felt they were bluffing initially.

The problem with bluffing on the river in limit play is that it is just one more bet ... Limit tends to be filled with calling stations.

This is the horrible part of people's thinking that makes it so easy for me to make money, calling me down 'in case' or because of those loving math 'pot odds'. Guess what...I go into a hand playing aggressively and finish it out aggressively I have it. You'll call me down time & time again, some reason people are never convinced. They always think you're trying to play them for a fish. Not that I never bluff, but my bluffs are based on observed information, like this example.

There are a couple people who email me who play limit and I analyze their hands and send them back. I like doing it as much as I do maintaining these backgammon forums. I learn so much about the game itself by looking over the action, seeing what other people are thinking and putting in my 2 cents worth. [sometimes it isn't worth the copper it's made from]
