If white rolls a number that leaves him a choice between anchoring or hitting, he, in some cases, may choose the anchor. He owns the cube and can afford to be patient. I want to minimize the shots that anchor and hit. Therefore, I should make a play that threatens him if he hits and helps me clean up if he anchors. I like 14, if white hits from the bar, blues worst number will be a 6 and with this play blue will have 6 good 6's from the bar that either hit back or make the eight-point. If white anchors without hitting, the man on the 14 point will help blue clean-up his blotitis. Also, blue does not want white to be able to anchor and hit lose in his board with a 5-3.
