By a "standard 5pt holding game" I mean something like the position below. I just threw together this position on apbg.net a moment ago and haven't run it through a bot, but based on its similarity to reference positions that I've seen, I feel pretty confident that it's a clear take for White. White has shot equity because of her anchor and Blue's shortage of landing points for his midpoint checkers, and she also has low gammon losing chances.

For the position that Daniel posted, XGR+ says it's a drop. I failed to properly take into account White's weak board. Move a checker from White's 6pt to her 5pt and a checker from her 2pt to her 3pt, keeping the race the same, and XGR+ says White has a comfortable take.
