I hate it when I miss those rolls that play 16 pips from the bar all the way to the 9pt!

If you're leaving 3 shots with your play anyway what about the really all out play of 18/14 12/8 which leaves 5?

Since posting, I've rolled this out, so I'll just say that your idea isn't completely out of the question.

I meant to say, "There is no way to make the 4pt with this roll in a way that Stick would play in a game where the stake was meaningful to him." I gotta be more precise next time. A whole lotta people were gonna switch points.

BTW: Stick, I now know why you are the 2nd best nactator in the world. It's because you're so good at assumptive Nactation. For your moves, all you have to write is the roll, and then, by assumption, you know that you made the best move! You can leave the Nactation blank.
