1. "I would tend to let this one go since I'm always playing a weaker player." I love it!!! I guess Monsieur Stick never had the pleasure of playing Hank Youngerman online.

2. "If you don't even consider the [best] play, how can you make it?" - Gammon Village.

3. Since 1976 I had wondered what my friend meant when he said, "A very fortuitous roll!" after a 42 came out of his cup. I was too embarrassed to admit I had no clue why he thought it was so clever. Monsieur Stick (fluent in French, English, poker, backgammon, computers and tennis) explained it elegantly and eloquently:

"When we call a roll 'fortuitous' as Paul does here it's a play on words. The roll is 42 and the word is pronounced 'four-two-i-tous'. I would explain it better but am out the door, I'm sure you get what I mean now."

I cannot thank you enough, Monsieur Stick, for explaining something that had troubled and mystified me for 35 years!
