POSITION 1: Pick and pass with 5-4*-1. While it buries two checkers on the 1 point, it leaves less escaping numbers and no return shots than the other options.
POSITION 2: 6-3 / 24-23. I think blue's best option is a hitting game plan. He's down in the race, and does not have a lot of prospects for a priming game in the short term. 6-3/24-23 supports a hitting game by leaving the outfield well stocked to attack if white leaves, prepares blue's home board for on going attacks, and guards against white slotting in white's home board.
POSITION 3: NO DOUBLE / TAKE. I think the question here is - is this a DOUBLE for blue? The skirmish here is around Blue's 5 point. If blue makes his 5 point putting two white checkers on the bar, he will likely have run out of outfield support to continue the blitz, at which point switching to developing his racing game would be likely. There are just 9 rolls that make the 5 point, so technically if Blue were going to double, he would double now. But everything else is not that bad for white, and with 6 blue checkers to come around, white has timing and ammo available for a potentially productive hitting game. I think I wait on the double.
