I like the shift here.

Giving white escaping sixes is quite bad - on the other hand if he doesn't roll them the followup seems to be quite easy to play. If I hang on to the blocking 8 point - probably best by 10/6 7/3 - I go behind the open point and is less likely to close the point, and attacking on the the 2 won't be so hot as it leaves the open 4 point as a way out. It seems to be worth it to give some now, in order for the position to play better later.

It is often best to do the 2nd most important thing well, than to do the most important thing poorly.
