Is there a simple answer to David's question: given a draw of 64, what is the probability that four specific players are each in a different quarter of the draw ?
I got as far as asking: what is the probability that in a draw of 4 two specific players are in different halves ?
There are 4x3x2 = 24 orders for the draw. By listing these, I see that the answer is 16/24 or 2/3.
I expect one of the resident mathematicians can provide a general and elegant solution.
