It's not just a matter of counting pips because one has to judge the risks and benefits of staying back, and that depends a lot on the exact position. If White's position gave her more powerful attacking and/or priming chances, then running would be right despite the unfavorable pip count. Here, I could be wrong, but I think White will have enough problems bearing in safely that it's worth hanging back. There are a few rolls that force White to expose a blot immediately.

Racing is way easier to win with cube.

This is true, though here we're so far behind in the race that the cube will help only a little. Note that in a straight race with no wastage, we would have to pass if offered the cube while trailing 129 pips to 114. In this position there's still some contact, but not much, and I'd estimate our winning chances after running to be only about 20%.
