If you hit, you have nothing to contain White with and remain a lot behind in the race. You lose timing to win backward, while your chances winning going forward are slim (you'd need to re-hit quite often). So wait. Given how far we are behind and the undeveloped nature of our homeboard, I would opt for the deepest defensive position and just make the 5, 11/5 8/5. That is something we want in any case.
