Very Interesting! No One Would Get These Right OTB

Several (eight?) years ago, a fellow expert approached me. "Hey Nack, at gammon save I saw you make this move a couple days ago." He had set up 62S-53S (Opp played 24/18 13/11, and I replied 24/21 13/8).
62S-32
He continued, "Well, I rolled it out and to my surprise you made the right move; I don't know anyone else who would have gotten that right over the board."
I said, "I could have saved you the trouble, having rolled it out myself a few months ago."
He looked a bit crestfallen, and his voice trailed off. "Well, that's not fair..." (I suspect he was partially joking, but not completely.)
So, if someone makes a play that he has rolled out or otherwise memorized, or has studied a category of positions well enough to easily arrive at a seemingly obscure but best move when playing, does that qualify as "getting it right OTB" or not?
Nack
P.S. As an aside, modern rollouts favor opening 62$ at gammon go, but rollouts at that time still supported my opponent's opening 62S. Would the consensus have been that he "got the play right OTB (though it's no big deal)" or would we have said, "well, it doesn't count -- that's just a routine play"? [No answers are needed -- this is just musing.]
