Given that XG needs 25 pips to save the gammon, we pretty much need to roll a doublet, so I am tempted to get fancy with 5/4, which saves a roll on 44, especially since we are odd anyway and we won't miss unless we roll two aces. The downside comes when we do roll two aces, and XG is slow enough for us to finish only one roll behind. I'd think it is a slightly longer shot - especially since when we roll two aces we are generally slow as well.
