In a closer race, I would diversify, 5/off 4/2.

But here, there is no harm in catering to a roll of 44 by playing 5/off 5/3.

In a miniscule number of variations where XG takes 3 more turns to bear off his first checker, this increases our small chance to win a gammon.

My vote: 5/off, 5/3
