In Response To: Backgammon Literature on Doubling (Christian Plenz)

In the Vanity Fair article, the author says: "In every game there has been a period at which the eventual winner would have had his double accepted."

Is this correct for a money game ? The opponent might have made a very bad opening response and then realised it when doubled. But I am not sure.
