Leaving the blot on 16 seems wrong. You're leaving 10 shots already and probably only 55 will bring it home next roll (44 and 66 as well if he splits the back checkers), so you're pretty much guaranteed to leave at least a single shot next roll and might well leave more than that.

If you play 16/10 do you clear the sixpoint or the fivepoint? Clearing the fivepoint leaves one shot less, but leaves a gap to be cleared afterwards. Seems close.

13/7 6/3 leaves only 20 shots but an extra blot. Four shots more is a lot, though. I doubt the extra blot will cost the game often enough to offset that. There is enough trouble already after getting hit even with the blot, so I don't think having an extra blot costs that much.

So 13/7 6/3 would be my play.
