DQR Review

If there is anybody who's not receiving DQRs yet, I hope you will change your mind after reading this.
Couple of weeks ago, I decided to go trough all released DQRs. Fast forward to the last weekend - I won my first backgammon tournament! Coincidence?Let me start this review with the price.
The price for DQR is $10 - not per each recap, it is $10 per month!! I'm sure you can do the math and see that you get each recap for $2.5, or if you want: $0.50 per analyzed position.I'm not going to write here every position type that Stick analyzed in previous recaps, but I want to highlight some analysis that helped me win more points and lose less points in the tournament.
1. Blitz
I don't know if blitz positions happened in my every match, but I remember having few cube decisions (both as doubler and as taker) where I stopped, said to myself: remember what Stick said about men in the zone, doubler's back checkers, defender's offense etc. After that it was easy to make correct decision.
Stick often covers blitz positions and now I'm glad he does.2. Pay now or pay later
I think Stick is in love with those kind of problems. And again I'm glad he is, because if he didn't repeat those positions, I probably wouldn't remember what do to when I'm faced with pay now or pay later problems.
And I was faced with PNoPL positions OTB and again it was much easier to find correct move.3. Race in all kinds of positions
Most boring part of the recaps. "Race is...", "look at the race", "...ahead...", "blah blah blah race blah blah", and actual quote: "The most obvious important aspect of the position to you should be the race."
I think you get the point - Stick thinks race is important. And he mentions that always.
He was so annoying with that crap so I decided for this tournament to do pip count OTB more than ever before.
And you know what? Stick was right. I hope he will continue to mention how important is the race.4. Calculating takepoints at various scores in a match
I've started to do this more often than before, both when I'm practicing and in the tournament matches. In the tournament it helped me to give more powerful doubles and to keep my take/pass errors low. As I said - winning more points and losing less points than before.5. Everything else
EPC, holding games, bear off, containment etc.
TL;DR It is great value for money. Buy it!
