I agree that this will probably evolve into a mutual holding game, so I'd also play 18/17* trying to gain ground in the race and establish more advanced anchors than my opponent. 6/5* does try to prevent the opponent from making the 5pt so it also makes some strategic sense, but when in doubt I hit the outfield checker.

This is the sort of position where I'm not sure the bot will be so trustworthy.
