Running is loose, but if we stay back, then getting hit really sucks, a little less so if it is with a 42 that is a bit awkward. Even if I would count only half a hit for the 42, it's still 9+1+1 = 11 (equivalent of) very dangerous hits. On the other hand, 20/14 15/12 leaves only 9 hits, and while we do lose more gammons than after safetying a blot with 15/6, we also seem to keep more winning chances with our race advantage and the open 5-point. I think the dominating feature in that pondering of pros and contras is the number of hits.
