In Response To: Nactations of 21$-65R-43C-21H-11 — December 2011 Update (Nack Ballard)

Thanks, Nack, for reviewing the Nactations of 21$-65R-43C-21H-11.

I would not have thought of the F (Float) family unless you had suggested it, but it works perfectly. You have not used any assumption. Instead, you established that the only possible float that can occur is 6/5, and then set about playing the other three aces in all possible ways. Happily, the resulting set of plays was small, and easily ranked using Hit/Most/Six. Very nice.

Considering all the trouble I'm having with lower case g, your font tests were also useful. Tem_sat may have given us the workaround solution (i.e, kludge) we need.

When I put together the following table, one thing jumped out. The location of the underline used by the

g tags does not move up and down as you vary the font size. It is established by the size of the enclosing environment, and then does not move. Larger font sizes cause the character to move up a little bit, but not enough to separate from the underline. Surprisingly, the underline separates better with the regular (enclosing) font size. Those are the characters that are smallest in the table below.

With the other methods, the underline moves lower as the font grows larger.

BTW: What version of Windows/IE are you running. Casper and I (and I believe others) are able to read the Unicode combining low line, but evidentally you cannot.
