backgammon contest nomenclature proposal

Hi Chuck,
Your idea makes good sense. Presumably the word "match" comes from a tournament drawsheet where two matching names play each other. Logically, all the play between those players should constitute a match. And your proposed "set" is played to a set number of points, so that works too.
But the term match in backgammon has been associated for so long to a series of games that I think it would be hard to change this usage. Think of the terminology that would have to change:
- "match play" becomes "set play",
- "DMP" becomes "DSP",
- "match equity table" becomes "set equity table", etc.
Maybe it would be easier to reverse the terms you propose: A match continues to be a series of games to a given number of points, and a set is the collection of matches that determines the winner of the round.
