backgammon contest nomenclature proposal

It was Stephen Turner of WWW Backgammon Page fame who, in a rec.games.backgammon discussion long ago, admonished me that "best X out of Y" was redundant; "best of Y" suffices. I apologize for raising this niggling point. You may blame Stephen, as I do ;-
In tennis 4 points wins a game, 6 games wins a set, and 3 (or 2) sets wins a match. In volleyball, 1 point gains a tally on the scoresheet, 25 points wins a set, and 3 sets wins a match. In backgammon 1 point (or more) wins a game, X games wins a match and 2 (perhaps) matches wins ... what else but a sensible set or, as Perry writes, series, of matches?
I'm with Art, and with Christian: tennis might fix its terminology, but ours isn't terribly broken. Game, match, and match? I can live with that.
