I'd calculate that my wife is amongst the top 100 female players in the world, and she has trophies from real live tournaments to prove it.

As for Katja, I think she is amongst the top three. There were 41 players in the 2011 Meribel Backgammon Tournament and I recognize some well-known top European players in the winners’ circle that she had to get past. She also won the Warm-Up Tournament in Meribel (48 participants) beating Alain Babillon of France in the final, and Babillon is one of the top in France.

Katja played for The World Team vs. Denmark in 2010. She won the Consolation of the UK Masters of the WSOB in 2009, came in second in the big-money Las Vegas Pro Am in 2004 with teammate Lars Bønding and amongst other titles was a semi-finalist of the main of the World Backgammon Championships in 2003 and she was the European Champion in 2002.

I wish we had 100 more women like Katja in backgammon - for her dedication and determination in the game.
