In Response To: OT: How to estimate a and p in E=aB+pB from multiple observations of E and B? (Casper van der Tak)

I thought that given that the equation is linear and has 2 unknowns that we could calculate a and b pairwise for all years. That is, solve for a and b in year 1 and 2, year 1 and 3, year 2 and 3, etc.

This would get us a distribution of values for a and b, thus giving us a feel for each.

Would that work?
