I agree it's hard to break learnt habits and that's one reason I have always preferred playing the bots to playing human opponents. If I see something done over & over & over & over & over & over & over again it will be engrained in my head like it or not. The bots aren't flawless of course but they're better than the humans so I'll take what I get.

"When in doubt, hit" should be coupled with one of my own ideas which goes a little something like "When you see a hitting play, no matter how good or obvious it looks, find the best non hitting play before making your move". I'm not a fan of the 'always hit' method, never have been.
