Thanks, pontiac! That's interesting info.

In problem 2, I think that breaking the anchor is a blunder at DMP as well. Basically, if you're this far behind in the race, and White has big stacks of checkers waiting to unload on you but a weak board, it's better not to break your anchor but to play against White's straggler, and you can play pretty purely/boldly when doing so (Magriel's criteria).
